Gum Disease & Overall Health
Periodontal or gum disease (sometimes referred to as gingivitis) is one of the leading causes of tooth loss among U.S adults. Nearly half the population experiences some form in their lives, and it can slowly destroy the gums and surrounding tissue supporting the teeth; which play a critical role in the function and aesthetics of both your oral and overall health.
Inflammation and the bacteria associated with periodontal disease have been demonstrated to have a relationship with the prevalence and severity of many systemic diseases such as: diabetes, cancer, stroke, heart disease, and more.
